Interior Design Trends for 2024: What’s In and What’s Out for Home Renovations

2024 isn’t far away, and whether you are planning a complete home renovation or just looking to refresh a space, here are the top interior design trends for 2024 that I think will inspire you:

Maximalist Expression of Your Personality in Your Home

Let’s leave 50 shades of pale grey behind and opt for bold and vibrant maximalist designs. Mix and match patterns, textures and colours to create visually stunning and, more importantly, personalised spaces. Incorporate statement furniture pieces and expressive art to infuse your personality into your living space. I have a client at the moment whose vision is exactly this, they just needed a bit of inspiration and support to bring it all together. It’s going to look incredible!

Sustainability over Mass-produced Decor

We are all trying to live a little bit more eco-consciously, and it’s taking an ever growing role in interior design, with a focus on sustainability and environmental responsibility. That coupled with increased cost of living means people are opting to up-cycle furniture, keeping statement pieces that are personal to them, and incorporating vintage finds instead of mass-produced impersonal decor.

Art Deco is Having a Revival

Art Deco’s opulence and glamour is well-known and admired, and experiencing a revival. Think bold geometric patterns, luxurious materials and metallic accents. New York’s famous skyline is renowned for Art Deco with the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building and the Rockefeller Centre, which ooze luxury and glamour. Incorporate Art Deco elements and decor can add a sophisticated touch of elegance to any room.

As always in interior design, trends develop and I can’t wait to see how 2024 unfolds in terms of home interiors and decor. As an interior designer one of the most important things to consider with clients is how to make their space personal to them, to tell their story and amplify how they live. I’ve incorporated a lot of family heirlooms and pieces which hold sentimental meaning into my own home, and I’ll always encourage clients to do the same.

Keep an eye out for my next blog, where I’ll be sharing colour trends you’ll want to incorporate into your next renovation!
